Seems to me it's just another case of wanting 'everything' in one package. (Kinda like the Avalanche; it tries to be everything, but does NONE of it well! )
Sure, the bias ply tires aren't radials and don't give the ride and handling characteristics of the newer generation tires. But face the facts folks; we love the OLD cars. We do everything possible to make the cars exactly as they were in 'the day',.......... then talk about better tires, etc.
I have radials (obviously) on my daily driver Silverado and YES, it rides and handles better than my Chevelle or Nova. But I have bias tires on both those cars and have no plans to change. If you like the ride of a new car, build a Pro Touring piece and enjoy it. The cars we all love had bias ply tires. Live with it.
