Muncie shifter handle question

Does the muncie shifter handle on a late 68 Camaro have a "T" stamped on the handle on the lower part? I don't remember one on my original. BTW I'm looking for a nice original "Muncie" stamped handle.

Re: Muncie shifter handle question

I've seen the "T" on both the Muncie and Saginaw handles in 67 and 68. They seen to function the same. The 'T' might ba a die number or source plant.

Re: Muncie shifter handle question

I've only ever seen the "T" stamped handles on Saginaw equipped cars.

I have one of each variation, don't know what it means but they are identical except for the T.

Re: Muncie shifter handle question

The original shifter frm my '68z has the T stamp in it.
From what I understand the T stamp was for HD applications, the Sagi shifters did not have this stamp.

Would like to hear from others on this.

Re: Muncie shifter handle question

Does the T stamp show? Or is it under the boot? My car came with a Muncie shifter. Broke 3 motor mounts in the first 6 months. Third time also broke the shifter. Dealer replaced shifter on the third time with a short handle plain new shifter. To this day I don't know what it was. Always had trouble with both shifters.Switched to Hurst in '72. I don't remember a T showing on original shifter
