NOS crate motor
 

This is the deal of the month. A brand new GM 454. vintage 1989? It has square port iron heads, ls7 type,454 4 bolt block, steel 454 crank,w 7/16 dot rods, intake to pan. It is currently being dissasembled and put back together as all gm motors from that era should be to ensure all torque specs etc are right. Intake to pan, never had gas in it, never run , driven, period..best of all is the price 4950.00 !!!!!!!!!!!! drop in and go,no used parts on this motor

That is a deal for sure Chuck.That is the black painted one is it not. I bought one somewhere in the mid 80's and with the taxes it was like 4400.00 so you are selling yours with 80's pricing.Good deal for someone.And yes we took mine apart also back then which is good advice.

yes gm has certainly been known to tighten rod bolts by hand!.

I have been pretty lucky with my LS-6 crate motor. It's been in my Chevelle since the summer of 1988 and it still runs perfect. Yesterday morning it was 28 degrees out and I drove it to work. A couple of pumps of the gas and it fires right up. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

What about todays crate motors- should you dissasemble them and check torque specs?
