Delco Moraine Brake calipers
When I restored my 71 W30 in 1996 I replaced the calipers with whatever my brake supplier could provide. I ended up with an aftermarket caliper on the right side and a correct date "Delco Moraine" caliper on the left. In an attempt to correct the error of my ways I am needing a source for rebuilt calipers that are factory correct, that is they must say "Delco Moraine". Failing that does any body know of a source that will rebuild a set of correct calipers I scored off a parts car. A local brake shop can install kits but I need the finish restored.Any tips?

Re: Delco Moraine Brake calipers
Most of the local suppliers order from a central warehouse. Two stores brought in a pair, they were all aftermarket. I asked about visiting the wareouse and was told it was not possible.
Asking one store to bring in the entire inventory might be a push. Paul |

Understand Paul. I am lucky I can just walk out back and look at most of the local shops. It was actually Canadian Tire where we got the last set. Of all places.

Re: Delco Moraine Brake calipers
I got my long slot (732, I think) for my 499 distributor that way. I used to check at almost every parts store. (I say almost since I never stopped when my wife was in the car!!) A guy at O'Reiley's asked what I was looking for, and when I told him, he called all the other stores in the area, and asked them to check their stock. When that netted nothing, he ordered 3 distributors for me to check out. None was a 499, but one had the 732 cam. He allowed me to purchase the distributor, exchange the shaft, and return it.
Now that's a friendly parts store!! |
