Exhaust clamps
I just recieved the correct clamps for my 68 Z. It there anything they can be coated in so they will not rust?

Re: Exhaust clamps
I highly recommend using this. BoeShield
You can now buy it at SEARS or Burlands House Of Tools over here. Click their webpage at the bottom to find your local dealer. |
Re: Exhaust clamps
How does it take the heat from the exhaust?

Re: Exhaust clamps
It does not seem to be a factor at all with mine.

Re: Exhaust clamps
This past July, I put a new Gardner exhaust system on my '69Z and treated it with Boeshield. In August, I drove the car to a local show in a neighboring town about 20 miles from my home. On the way back, I got caught in an unexpected rain shower. A week or so later, I gathered up enough courage to put the car on a lift and take a look. Although there was light surface rust on all the unpainted suspension parts, there was absolutely no rust on the exhaust. I am a believer!

Re: Exhaust clamps
Rick, Are not the GARDNER Exhaust pipes fabricated from Aluminized Tubing, where as rust in the short term would not be a problem anyway......
Below is Jack Seymours GARDNER system below........ http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4.../119772377.jpg |

Re: Exhaust clamps
Boeshield will not hold up on the exhaust manifold bolts, but that's a much higher heat range than the rest of the exhaust system.
Unless you have the bare steel clamps/hangers, it shouldnt really need anything. |
