They had some neat stories about Art on the local Akron radio station this morning....One about testing on city streets.....and blowing out neighborhood windows! A sad day indeed....... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Re: Art Arfons 81 Dies
I saw Art make quite a few passes over the years, way before he got into the tractors. Quite the showman.
Thanks for the memories Art. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif |
Re: Art Arfons 81 Dies
I never saw him in person, but he sure was promoted highly on our local US30 Dragstrip radio ads during the summertimes back then, with the announcer constantly echo screaming.."SEE ART ARFON"S GREEEEEEEEEEEN MONSTER!"

Re: Art Arfons 81 Dies
One of the first guys to bolt a military surplus jet engine onto four wheels. I've got Kin Folks in Akron that live not far away from Art and have told me of his antics and engineering skills.
A true craftsman way ahead of his time. His Green Monsters have etched the racing history books. R.I.P. Mr. Arfons. |
Re: Art Arfons 81 Dies
I remember watching him at the tractor pulls a few times.May he rest in peace.
