Camaro Fender Skirt Splash Guard Install Help

Any tips on how to put the splash guards on. My orginals are long gone. Got news ones with the staple kit, but the staples are tough to work with. Thanks.

I found out the easiest way to replace them is to take out the inner fenders and replace them. I have seem people do them with the inners still on the car but it doesn't look as nice as if you take the extra time and pull them out. Good luck!!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

I gave up on the staples. When I did mine I went to the hardware store and got a spool of bailing wire in the same diameter as the staples. Just twisted fed it thru and twist tied it on the other end, bent them over and painted them black. Can't even tell its not a staple and it much easier to work with.

I've done more than I care to remember....on and off the car. I like to drill the holes as close to the staple size as possible. Just a few thou larger. It will hold the staple in the apron a bit tighter making it eaiser to install.I also drill all the staple holes first.I begin by installing one at around the 12 o' clock area then go to the front and work my way around. I use a homemade thimble around two of my fingers. One to hold the staple from the underhood area....the other to start the bend in the staple. After the bends are started you can completely fold them with a screwdriver or squeeze them shut with a pair of the small Vise-Grip clamps...Once you get the hang of it, it goes fairly easy!FYI...buy more than one pack of staples. One bag is hardly enough to properly due the job.I like to replicate the angle of the staple gun as well.If you pay attention to the way they were shot from the factory there often shot in the same direction.Vary rarely are the shot in a perfect - - - - pattern around the wheel house.Good luck!

I found round bailing wire does not have the flat profile appearance like the staples do.
Once finished,I & others could see & feel that noticeable difference, especially in sunlight or under flourescent lights against the splash gaurds.
I basically did the same as Steve, sans thimble, and went back to the flat staples.
