1970 LT1 350 CE engine 2700 miles

real unmolested LT1 CE 360/370hp
1971 casting dates 010 block / 492 heads

Yenko Duece motor or 'vette or 70 Z28

NO BULL..complete assembled engine purchased brand new from Yenko Chevrolet in 1973 (just the local dealer back then who cared about hot rods, who knew???) it was used in a 1968 Z28 to replace a scattered 302. Car had about 8K miles on it then, owner's son died in 1978 and the car was sold, as it was being saved for him. Current owner stored car until 1998. He found a 302 to rebuild and reinstall. LT1 was removed (intake, VC, ignition used on 302) and stored it away. The Z had just under 11k on it then, so the LT1 has 26/28 hundred miles on it!! I was in the right place at the right time when the motor had to be moved from storage. I was going to put it into my 70 RS (27k survivor in need of paint but its only original once) but 11.25 to 1, solid lifter cam...I'll just leave the 350 4bl alone. Please contact me with questions, I'll be happy to crate and ship $2500 or???, 701-223-8765 [email protected] also can send pics

If it was bought in 73, is it a 360hp or a 330hp replacement, and how do you know,ie any papework?

Re: 1970 LT1 350 CE engine 2700 miles

I believe it to be a 360hp motor (1970 spec) because of the 64cc cylinder heads. I think the 71-72 LT1 had a 76cc head (casting #487 is the most likely). As far as the 360hp/370hp goes, 1970 LT1 'vette or Z28 motor were identical except for accessory drive, water pump, exhaust manifolds and oil pan/windage tray. This motor has a Z28 type pan but could easily be exchanged for a 'vette pan. Obviously, I did a little research into this motor before I bought it. It has screw in studs, quide plates, solid camshaft, big damper, steel crank, etc. With the intake & VC off, I used as many external identifiers as possible. If any one has questions or would like pics, please feel free to contact me. thanks, JJ
