suffolk speed shop

anybody know anything about suffolk speed shop out of New York. I have a friend that has (he says) a first design 1967 L-88 motor with suffolk county speed shop stamped on the back of it, any ideas? He also has a brand new 1970 ls-6 short block, guy also has a Vega Gt with 2500 miles on it, pulled motor and tranny with 40 miles on it and replaced with LT1 and powerglide, wild stuff, currently has a 283 motor and the LT-1 sitting on a stand, wild.

Re: suffolk speed shop

Back in the sixties / seventies Suffolk Speed & S&K Speed were the two big multiple location speed shops
on the Island.
Suffolk had a shop in Huntington (mid island) & one in New Hyde Park (Queens border)
S&K had one in Lindenhurst (mid island also) and one in Rockville Center (Nassau).
S&K had their machine shop out in Lindenhurst and the Rockville Center store was mostly parts.
Suffolk built out of both locations.
Both shops built some killer machines, with Speedwin (Joe Jill) the only other shop in Nassau & Suffolk counties
that could compete.
Here's a shot of their decal off the side of my OLD tool box.
