1970 854 L-78 396/375HP 4-bolt rebuilt short block
 

This came with the 1970 Nova project I bought but I found another 854 short block that has a date code closer to my car so I am going with the other motor. This short block looks to have been freshly rebuilt with forged .030 over pistons and a steel crank. It is an original high performance 4-bolt main block with the large plug above the oil filter. The date code is H/16/69 and the complete part number is 3969854. The original code on the pad is hard to read but I think it is a warranty replacement CEO motor with no VIN stamp on the block. I am fairly certain that you will have a hard time buying and rebuilding another 396/375 short block for less than my asking price of $4995.00 Please e-mail me if you have questions or if you want pictures.
