Where is 70 Motion car now?

About 10 or 12 years ago, I looked at a 70 Camaro that had been Motion-ized in 76. It was for sale for $5500. It had all the Motion reciepts...$10,000 in 1976 money. It was in North Jersey...seems like Wayne or Bloomfield rings a bell. The car was baby blue with white motion stripes...a 454, automatic...it was not an original Z..it had wide flairs all the way around...and wagon style alum mags...and a Grant style wheel with a GM center button...I'll never forget the car 'that I should have bought'...I offered 3500...the owner told me that a guy offered him 3500 for just the motor.., I did not buy it because the car had aftermarket t-tops installed..I was wondering if anyone knows what happened to the car.

If I'm not mistaken, the car is alive and well. It has a white triangular "Motion" stripe down the side with an L88 hood, and spoiler in the rear? Cragars and side pipes?

I know someone here has a recent photo of it.

Sure sounds like the same car...Does it have the big flaired fenders all the way around?? Does it still have the T-tops?? At the time, I never thought the T-tops could be fixed...that really scared me away from the car..now I realize anything can be fixed..But I'm almost certain it had aluminum 10 spoke style wheels at the time...I think we called them wagon wheels..I believe all the optional Motion stuff was listed on the reciepts. Anyway, Do you have any pics of the car, especially the steering wheel..I seem to remember a GM center emblem on a Grant style steering wheel that was Motion installed...how about the suspension setup..If i remember it had a 10 bolt 4.10 built by Motion also..Did it have ladder bars?? i forget....Thanks alot...

I posted about this car on one of the other forums.I went to look at it back in around 1990 or so.I belive it was in Pomptom Lakes or something, and it was advertised in the want ad press. The guy who was selling it had the original recipts from the car and the owner who had the conversion done in 76 was from Paterson and had a Spanish sounding name.I had a copy of those papers but I cant seem to find them. The car had some primer spots oin it and the plastic work was a little beat up,but overall it was solid.I belive the car was a 71 or 72 because it had a 10 bolt rear in it that they installed 4.10 gears into and the recepts showed that. The engine was listed as a phase 3,but I think it meant something different in 76 then it did in 70 since the engine had 10:1 compression and a hydraulic cam. Here is the link to the post I made a while back about the car.BTW,I though it had 15x10 hurricane style wheels all around but I could be wrong.

Hey Rich...thats the car alright...it had t-tops when you looked at it didnt it??..it did have 15x10's all the way around...thats why it had all four wheel flares...I thought it was a 70, but it could have been a 72...I believe it was not a Z, so thats why it only had the 10-bolt...(if my memory serves me..obviously it doesnt always serve me perfectly)...any ideas what happened to it...I called back a little after I looked at it and it was sold. I was thinking that the car may have been parted out...it was for sale for a while...also, do you remember the steering wheel?? what it looked like? wheres the link?

I dont remeber if it had T tops or not.It could have been a Z since they wouldnt have had a 10 bolt in 1972 since 70 was the only year for a 12 bolt in a 2nd gen camaro.I dont remember T tops, but it could have had them.I thought it had a wood grain steering wheel, but it might have had the stock camaro/vega wheel now that I think of it.I wish I could find the paperwork since it had the original VIN for the car I think.I know I have the papers somewhere at my parent's house.

On a side note,it is kinda good that we never bought it.The kid I went there to look at it for ended up buying a 71 Chevelle for a lot less. After I put a tone of work into it the car was stolen from my shop and the driveline ended up powering an 80 Malibu that was owned by a kid that I had bad business with. The Chevelle was never recovered.I could have been a Motion Camaro in place of that 71 Malibu.

The link I posted was to another web site that the guys around here dont like or something. It is under the Motion performance page of that other site.Nobody from around there remembered it.
