Chevelle SS wheel options
Whenever XT wheels come up for sale I often see references for Camaro and Nova. Did the Chevelle SS ,1970 or newer ever come with anything other than its magnum 500 style or 15" wheels (70 Z28 style)? what years could you get a 14x7 steel wheel with Dog dish on a Chevelle SS?
Enlighten me you Chevy experts! |

Re: Chevelle SS wheel options
Right Bill. My '68 had painted wheels and dog dishes. I still have the wheels but honestly don't recall the codes. Seems like we discussed this just a few months ago.

Re: Chevelle SS wheel options
Upon further consideration, I will amend my reply as follows: steel wheels and dog dish hubcaps were standard equipment on 66, 67, and 68 Chevelle SS396 models. I am not sure if the wheels were 14x6 or 14x7 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Chevelle SS wheel options
In 68 the standard steel wheels on an SS-396 were 14x6 with XE code with dogs. The same dogs as the 69 Camaro's got.
No Chevelle SS ever came with 14x7 steel wheels with dogs or full caps. |

Re: Chevelle SS wheel options
The XE coded wheels will fit around the 4 piston brakes. It's a fairy common wheel to find. I found a set on Ebay for $150.00 after a 2 week search. I've seen several sets since then. It's the dogs that will cost you. A good set will go for $250+ up to $400+ for an NOS set.
