i wonder how good the trim tags are on the cars??

Re: Must be a fire sale on '67 L78's
Funny you should mention that. I was cruising eBay Sunday and had mentioned to a friend that I had never seen that many 67 L78's at one time.
Everyone of them has some faults but look very nice. Check out the rivets holding the VIN tag on the Maroon car. Maroon L78 Or how about the partial VIN stamped on the motor of the Deep Water Blue L78. Motor clearly restamped with 17N122221 but the VIN for the car is N222221. Can you say OOPS! Deep Water Blue L78 It's little things like that that should raise the red flag. I would be very careful. Rick H. |

Do a quick search under cowl tag completed auctions in e-bay.
It will make you sick. Lots of Camaro |

[/ QUOTE ] Bruce, I read that as well but I doubt he knows what he is looking at. I didn't read anything where the previous owner pointed out the motors partial VIN stamp doesn't match the cars VIN. He says the motor has the "correct" "pad stamps" and clearly they are not. That's my point. People have to be careful if they are buying high dollar "restored" cars like this. I will give it credit in that it looks very very nice. Rick H. |
Re: Must be a fire sale on '67 L78's
Good eye Rick! I had an offer on the burgundy car in August for $35K when it was on Craigslist and it needed restored. All I was waiting for was a pic of the VIN tag, but the owner never sent it. 2 weeks later I contacted him and he said it was sold to someone else. Now that I see the rivets on the tag I can understand why he never sent me the pic. I've seen one non-rosette rivet on a real tag, but never two. A few months later a local friend told me a few stories about the seller at that time (not the dealer who has it now) and I'm glad I never sent the money.

I would like to see if the hidden vin# matches. In my own opinion, the vin tag looks fake to me. Not fact, but my personal thoughts. Roger
