"Junk in the Attic Auction"

I was watching HGTV last night (sort of addicted to Flip This House) and a show came on about auctioning off junk laying around the house to generate funds to buy something else. I think it was called Cash in the Attic. Most of the stuff was very low dollar (under $50) and actually did seem like junk. The people wanted to raise something like $4,000 to buy a hot tub. The auction was held at what looked like a small local gymnasium or something like that, maybe 50 people bidding. Anyway the last item they brought out was an absolutely mint 66-67 Pontiac Tempest, 2 door, 6 banger. I was stunned that at this auction of old attic junk something like this would show up. The sellers were sweating it out because they thought it wouldn't break the $5k reserve they threw on at the last minute. I think it ended up selling for $6,700. I guess my point is that there are still some nice cars out there and these sellers had absolutely no idea what the car was worth - unless it was staged, which some of these show obviously are. Still, $6,700 for a mint Tempest - can you say GTO clone?

Yep, it's still out there!

I was in a garage Saturday that people drive past everyday. I couldn't BEGIN to describe all the unbelievable vintage GOLD in this place. How 'bout a '58 Corvette with a base 283 & a Powerglide? Or maybe a '62 409 Impala? Or a 69 Corvette Funny Car......... or an old Woody Gilmore front engine dragster? And the parts and memorabilia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Believe me, there's still a TON of stuff around if you know where to look!

(BTW guys........... NONE of this stuff is available. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif )

I believe you Dennis as I have had to suffer through the photos looking at the stuff. You should post one of the shelving and wall hanging items. Priceless! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif

You wouldn't believe them. He sent me a bunch again today and it will make you sweat! Unfortunately I already deleted the e-mails. Dennis needs to send some to anyone that can reduce their size and post them on here without having to open the attachment. Cool stuff!!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Bruce,

I can post some pix but I'd like to talk with the owner first. Sometimes people get a little touchy about others knowing what's hidden away. This guy is known to a few members here so it won't come as a surprise to a lot of you.

That's cool Dennis...that's what I meant by either posting them...or not. I've been in that situation myself...numerous times! There are a lot of pictures I wish that I could share...but you have to respect the owners privacy!https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

That was an OLD SHOW! I remember that well over a year ago! Sure was a CLEAN little tempest! It is probably a GTO by now! LOL
