Chemical Strip and E-Coat-Judge

Any assistance would be great. Does anyone know how much it SHOULD cost to have a reputable company chemical strip and e-coat a car (1969 GTO Judge). Parts include: body, frame, doors, deck lid, hood, RA pans, core support, rear axle, heater box, fenders, inner fenders. I don't want to start a debate on strip vs. blast, but hoping someone might have insight on a reasonable cost. Thanks!

Troy, I would check with Colin or someone close to you, Maybe Aloha, see who they use, Not a service I would "priceshop" too much, I know you want a nice job on the car, Wish I still had that car!! Good luck!! Carl https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Carl:

Good to hear from you. The car will be pretty amazing when done. As you can guess, I just had every component stripped and e-coated. There is a firm here that neutralizes in 16 different steps to avoid later corrosion. It has been a long, long process. Three years for Whitmore to build the engine, tranny by Mike Miles, and the restoration being done by Gary Thurlow (LS6 convertible and Hemi Cuda' stuff). Should be done in 4 to 6 months and you can definately have it back for the right price https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

I got a $6K bill for the strip and e-coat and thought it was a bit steep. I should have saved this kind of restoration for a Ram IV or a '71. Could be one of the best when done.

I did a 1967 SS-396 Chevelle coupe (Body,Frame,Hood,Deck lid,Doors,12 bolt housing, suspension, ect.) about 3 years ago at Redi-Strip in Roselle Illinois. It cost about $3,000.00 when I was all said and done. I can't imagine the price has 2 folded in 3 years. I was very happy with the results. Bill

Teg,

Seems to me I got a quote for about $2,800 18 months ago. Just didn't have the coin to pull the trigger. If it's up to $6k, I guess I'll be skipping that process. Who did you get your quote from?

Blair:

$2,800.00 is probably for the body only (that is the exact number I have). Add doors, trunk, frame, deck lid, heater core, etc. and I am at $6K. To me, that is a lot. I am comfortable that the work was done very well, however, still 2x the price I expected.
