1970 Olds 442 Vert. What is it worth???

A guy I work w/ came to me the other day and said he heard I was into musclecars, however, I do not know a whole lot about Olds 442 cars. He has a 1970 Olds 442 convertible sporting a 455 Cubic Inch motor stored away in his basement garage. It has a hurst 3 speed his/hers shifter. Power door locks with AM/FM factory Radio. The color is silver/grey. Has less than 90,000 actual miles and I think he may be the original or second owner if I can remember correctly.
Does anyone have any idea what ballpark the car is worth. I do not think he intends to sell at this time.

Thanks

Darrell

Without trying to be a smart a$$, anywhere from $15K to about $100K (a W30 could be significantly higher at both ends of that scale).

Need lots more info on condition to be able to give a real answer.

Sounds pretty cool! Is the his and hers the dual gate shifter...there can't be too many of those?

I sure do like the term "dual gate" better than "his and hers". Paperwork would certainly help on this car. The value is nearly impossible to peg. Is it a W30? If not, does it have the W25 hood? Does it need paint or a restoration? Let us know.

Several things to look for. Hood was one thing. Air breather would also be there for W-25 and W-30. Aluminium intake with "Oldsmobile W-455" would be on one of the front intake runners and 'F' heads would be indicators of a W-30. A/C or no? Condition of the vehicle. Convertable will definately be worth more cash than a hardtop. Pictures man! We need pictures! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Haven't a lot of the build sheets been found inside the rear panels of the bucket seats? .

Never looked there when I had my '70 Post 442-W25 car but looked almost everywhere else and found nothing! .

Good luck!

I agree with Joe's estimates. A Restored Convert non w-30 would be worth $30-$40,000 depending on options, color and the numbers matching issue. The dual gate was a popular option in 1970.
The bucket seats are a good place to look for a build sheet.

I just spoke with the owner a few minutes ago. He doesn't think the car is a w-30. the hood he says is fiberglass, w/ dual "snorkels" and is also missing the hood pins. He also said the car is an a/c car.( which I would assume would not be a hi-perf car) The car has not been driven for quite sometime.

I told him about the site. Hopefully, he will visit and register so he can communicate directly w/ you guys that have all the Olds 442 knowledge.

Engine in the auto is the same whether AC or not. Could still be a W-30, but chances are unlikely but ya never know. VIN must have an "M" for Lansing plant to support the possibility.
