What Aluminum manifolds were available in 1969?
Does anyone know what aftermarket aluminum manifolds were available in 1969? I know the Edlebrock Torker was around in the late 70's but I was only 10 years old in 69 and I don't have a stash of old magazines. Thanks for any help.

I believe the Edelbrock C427 and perhaps the Edelbrock C427X as well...

Dont forget the C396 for the oval port cars...

The C427X is very similar to the L72-L78 intake and flows similar numbers from what I have been told. The Tarantula small block intake came out around this time with some pretty wild power gain claims. Check out some of the old magazines. Weiand and Offenhauser made aluminum intakes as well.

The nice thing about the Tarantula manifold, because of the angled setup of the carb--the runners were equal in distance and you didn't have to stagger the carb jetting --Made for smoother idle and tacked on a couple of horses over a stock L-78/L-72 GM manifold....I ran one for a few years in the 70's---one of the best I've used..

I think this is a great question! I have often thought of doing a project, and building it like I might have done it, had I been alive back then.
Is this why you asked yourself? BTW. New to the site. seems great. |

Well Bocephes, had you not been drinkin, and rollin smoke, maybe you'd remember. Ah, yes. I know. It's a family tradition. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif Welcome to the site.

LOL! Family Tradition is one of the best!
I always pictured a build something like this: totally stock resto, throw on a pair of period correct aft mkt wheels, an intake, possibly some valve covers, and maybe headers. A couple vintage decals rounding out the look. Were Sun tachs available in 69? |
