1969 Yenko Nova Pricing
 

I'm interested in any thoughts, opinions on what a real 1969 Yenko Nova would sell for. As a follow up I'm curious on what a 1969 Yenko Nova recreation aka clone, having all the correct equipment, except having come from Yenko Chevrolet and starting life as a 6cyl car is worth. This car is an exact replica of what is considered to be the first Yenko Nova built, it is even an original Garnet Red car. There is a hardback book,"Musclecar Chronical" that has an excellect depiction of this car on page 206. I'm looking for some honest evaluation bearing in mind this clone has the correct 512/ ce replacement block, etc. I would offer that it is probably the nicest 1969 Yenko Clone in existence. I'm not expecting you experts to be interested, but consider a normal person who wanted one of these cars, that are not available. Would $95,000 be out of the question. Just for the record I am also one of the numbers matching nuts, and have been into the numbers long before most of you experts. I was checking numbers in 1971, using the 1969 dealer parts book (which I still have today),on my factory 1969 bare bones, Glacier Blue L-78 Nova with factory M-22.

you would be paying $95,000 for a 6cyl Nova with a 427?
Makes no logical sense to me. What is a plane jane worth?
$10,000? Yenko paper maybe $12,000?

I would pass.

If the nova had started life as a L78. Then converted to 427. An original Yenko color on trim tag. With smog etc... You may be able to get L78 type money at $65,000. Starting with a six cylinder vin car. It may bring Yenko camaro clone money of around $25,000 if it is nice. Earl

You can build one for a third of that price. Better yet, buy a real, documented L78 Nova.

It has a lot to do with several components, one being the instrinsic value of the underlying car.

The example of the L78 is a very good one. Lets say/assume that the value difference of a 6 cly Nova vs an L78 car for car is $50k, then you could expect a majority of that value to carry over to the cloned/modified car.

This is a very similar comparison to Tom's situation with the GTO Judge with RAIV parts added.

Did anyone look over the one which just sold at the last Mecum Auction?

My way of analyzing a clones value would be what the proper component pieces are worth (valued at fair market) to recreate a much rarer optioned out model.

I believe most car enthusiasts could have a L72 engine with proper casting parts and dated correctly assembled for at least the $15,000 price range. A heavy duty Muncie M22 transmission should be able to be purchased for $2500 anyway. A correct BE coded heavy duty rear axle complete assembly should run maybe $5000.00. So if a Nova was purchased and these components added along with periphere pieces needed. I would think that the proper mechanical pieces might run $24,000 on top of a cars purchase price. I think the $95,000 price tag is definitely high! You should be able to duplicate a 427 Nova for around $40,000 anyway I would think.

The '69 Yenko Novas didn't get the 'BE' rear, so you can knock another 5 g's off that price...I agree with about everything else said above so far...it may look like a Yenko, but it's still just a 6-cylinder car.
