Re: 480 distributor
Wow! That is a late Z. Very few were made after October. Good luck.

Re: 480 distributor
I have a 10A build Z/28 with 14,000 original miles, that has a PA inspection sticker from October 31, 1973 on the windshield. It has a 9A20 480 distributor in it. I have no reason to believe that it was changed. All bets are off on late cars.

Re: 480 distributor
Ed,
Not sure about Franks 480 date but I would certainly agree with him regarding "end of the run" cars. They had already stopped making many of the dated parts by October so I suspect that your car would have a few early stamped parts since they would be "reaching into the bottom of the parts bin". It would not surprise me to see a late Z non Z related parts because they may have run out. |
Re: 480 distributor
I think that you will find out that some of the late production 69 Z28's came originally with distributor# 1112003 and not the 480. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

One owner car,i specifically asked the original owner if it was ever changed and he verified that it wasnt..

Re: 480 distributor
I have a 11a late 69 Z with the window sticker dealer invoice, and protect-o-plate, and it has a 2003 dist I would say that one with a 9A has been changed. the US camaro club did a article on this and said that it safe to say the 2003 came in late 69zs

Re: 480 distributor
Cant get much better proof than a one owner car with the original distributor in it as verified by the original owner, and a second car with the same scenario date wise . Unfortunately.we tend to believe anything in print as being gospel, and it sometimes makes owners actually change whats correct into something that seems more realistic and acceptable....Keep in mind the 11A car you have is later than both of the cars mentioned also.
