A Reunion of Long Time Friends
Through high school and beyond (from the mid 60's to mid 70's), I grew up with a group of guys who were as car-centric as I was (or still am https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif). We mainly hung around at one small Union 76 filling station and car repair shop, both during and after (many nights WAAAYYYYYYY after https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif) normal business hours. The station owner’s son was one of our group. Many of us have remained friends and in semi-regular contact with each other, while others have headed off in other directions, as often happens in life. About 20 years ago we had a “Reunion” of the old gas station gang at our town’s annual car show, and everyone who was able to attend had a great time. Many of the guys brought their cars to that show.
Over the past winter, several of us got talking and decided it might be about time for another “Reunion”. My wife and one other wife were the driving force https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif behind the latest “Reunion”, which happened recently at a Cruise Night at the local A&W Restaurant. It’s always fun to get together with old friends, and everyone had a great time. Once again, many of us brought cars to this Reunion, and I thought I might share some pictures with you. The restaurant owner was kind enough to welcome us https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i1...rd/tn_sign.jpg |
Re: A Reunion of Long Time Friends
This 73 Z28 was bought new by the son of the Gas Station owner, and sold a couple years later to another one of the guys, who still owns it today https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

Re: A Reunion of Long Time Friends
Ken worked part time at the station back then, before and after his tour of duty in Vietnam https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif, and had a beautiful 63 Impala SS then. He married one of the station owner's daughters https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif He no longer has a car, but this is their son's Mustang, which runs a very healthy sounding small block Ford https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

Re: A Reunion of Long Time Friends
Dennis is the son of the station owner (Donald) and this is his current Nova https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif Dennis hasn't changed a bit...still trades cars so fast you need a scorecard to keep track of em all https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif Matter of fact, this car might belong to someone else by now https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif

Re: A Reunion of Long Time Friends
This is Rick's 64 El Camino, a long term project he finished up just last year https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif Back in the day, Rick had a new 70 Nova SS, L78/T400. With a few mods it ran high 12's, which was a very quick street car back then https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif It met an untimely fate with a telephone pole https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif.....luckily Rick fared much better than the Nova did.

This is Dave's Nova, powered by a healthy 383 small block https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif Definitely has the stance nailed https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif Back in the day, Dave had a W31 Cutlass that screamed https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

Drew no longer has a car, but his daily driver Blazer is sharp sporting TT II's https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif At one point Drew owned the Yenko Deuce now owned by Dan Hornback https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

Re: A Reunion of Long Time Friends
Denny didn't hang at the station with us, but we've known him so long it almost seems like he did. He recently bought this 24,000 original mile Nova....paperwork, 6 cyl/PG, add-on air. Previous owner added a few chrome touches under the hood, but otherwise it's relatively untouched https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

Re: A Reunion of Long Time Friends
That's "Neat" that the group can still get together with the same common interests...... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
