Crate Motor Recommendation?
I am considering putting a crate motor in my '67 Z rather than the original motor since I am going to use it as a driver and wondered if some of you with experience with these motors could give me some advice. Is there a GM crate motor that you would recommend that would give me 350 - 400 hp and be a direct bolt in with my M21 etc? Looking for any advice that you may be able to offer https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

I was looking at doing the same thing, and for a daily driver, seems like it would be hard to beat the ramjet 350, especially considering that a good aftermarket FI system will set you back 3 grand. I know it isn't an ultra high performance set up, but 350 horses and 400 pound feet would certainly work for a daily driver, especially for under $5,000 complete with fuel injection. http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/120/prod...ne-Assembly.htm Wish I could tell you I have experience with one of these engines, but maybe someone else here can offer some insight. Re: Crate Motor Recommendation?
Thanks Lynn...not sure how I'll fit that FI unit under the cowl plenum breather though https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif I've been looking at the 350HO 330hp complete set up but wondered if the distributor will fit without banging up the firewall (won't do that!). I'm also considering just building another 657 block with a nice hydraulic cam and lower pump gas friendly compression as an alternative...Consdidering all options at this point in time.

Re: Crate Motor Recommendation?
Mark, Why don't you just do a non numbers stock 350 with the Z bolt ons. That would not be to hard to do. You could run a cast crank 350 with flat pistons and a 2 bolt block. Put your Z intake, Holley and valve covers on the motor. probably be cheaper than the crate motor. Just a thought. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Sam
