COPO ID HELP
 

Help,I am a long time corvette guy and feel I know most of what I need to about them.I have run across a '69 big block Camaro that is being described to me as an original COPO car.Is there any way to tell by vin like the ZL1 cars?Any sure fire yes or no things that I should look for?Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Check the Vin, there are lists here and COPO.com and check for a few things.
1. All Iron Block COPO's were built after the first of the year (and only 2 of the ZL1's were built before the first of Jan 1969).
2. X44 or X11 (the first batch of Yenko Camaros's were X66 cars)
3. If 4spd. Check for BB spd crossmember and Clutch bellcrank also for Muncie firewall hole.
5. Check for BE coded Rear end. (heat treated HD 4.10 posi)
6. X11 is style trim (1/4 gill trim, bright pedal pads, roof drip) X44 is the base model.
7. If original front fenders check for lack of engine displacement badge holes.
8.Check for Cowl induction piercing. also Cowl induction throttle arm.
9. If the car has an original 140 speedo and 13/16 sway bar then it is also a COPO 9737 Sports Car Conversion.

That is the kind of info that I was looking for.I will go back and look it iver again and let you know what I find. Thanks

also see if you can get the body # on the right upper side of the cowl tag. this may help also.

Well,I did not get to look at too much of the car tonight as the owner was not home but his wife let me take a peak at the data plate which gave me bad news X33.So I guess it must be a made up car https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

X33 would be a Z28.
