Old SW tachs
Do most or all of the older tach..mid 60"s use a sender??or are some of them direct wire to the coil??..have a line on a old SW greenline..does not come with a sender, and no I dont have a model number....yet!. Thanks

Re: Old SW tachs
Most use a sender, some do not. If its the "Yenko" pedestal type, then it needs a 990B sender. They can also be converted to solid state, which is probably the smartest thing to do regardless, as the senders were not the picture of reliability.

Re: Old SW tachs
There are two models of the greenline pedestal. They both look the same externally. One uses a sender and one does not. It you take the rear cover off is it easy to tell. The transistorized tach(no sender required) has 3 pins labeled 4, 6, and 8. There is a wire that can be moved between the 3 posts to select the cylinders.

Re: Old SW tachs
Interesting. I've never seen an original SW greenline 970 pedestal tach that didn't require a sender.
