Wayne Miller's Beautiful Blown Z28
Bruce, here’s the write on my Z/28. I have owned the Z since Nov 79’. I put it on the road in Feb 80’. I bought the car with a blown up 427 in it. I replaced the 427 with a crate 350 LT1. It had a M21 with 488 gears out back. It was Grey Lacquer with White stripes. That was the start down a long road with this car! I have had a few motors in it over the years, 350’s 283’s another 13:0 to 1 L88 with a 620 lift flat tappet and an 850 Holley (wish I still had that one). I had a good friend of mine repaint the Z back in 1983. We stripped it down to bare metal and painted it with Deltron in the original Daytona Yellow. It still has all the original sheet metal on it. Greg had touched it up over the years. The interior is original except for the carpet, package tray and armrest covers. It still looks good.
I have never traced the previous owners, but I know I should. It is a X77 car that was built on 02D. When I bought it, it had console and gauges, cowl hood and 7 grand tach. I have a 12/68 DZ motor and a 5/69 DZ motor. The later DZ block was in the car with a 350 assembly and the Huffer!! It now has a 502 crate motor with the huffer and a Richmond 5 speed with a Long Vertigate shifter. The original 12 bolt is out back. I have had the rear out and it is date coded 12/6/68 with a BT ring and pinion code. It still has the Lakewood T Bars from Day 2 on it. I have the J bolts adjusted up and power shift all the time! The Z shows 53 k on the speedo, I have only put less than 10k on it over the years. I have shown it at the Baltimore World Of Wheels car show for the last 4 years and I have placed 1st through 3rd in that time. This past year I placed 2nd. I have tried to keep it Day 2 with the old school speed parts that I have collected over the years. I have a Lakewood 3 point bar that will go in this spring. It has 5 spoke PS Engineering wheels on it 15x4 and 15x8.5. I have Coker 560b-15 on the front and 275b-60-15 Pro Tracs on the back. Everybody loves the old style rubber. It has a bent neck Harrison Radiator that was in it when I bought it in 79. I still have all the old stuff I took off …. Master Cylinder, Alt, two piece rotors and Power Booster tucked in the garage. Thanks, Wayne “BLOWNZ” Miller http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...920resized.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1..._resizd923.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1..._resizd922.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1..._resizd921.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1..._resizd937.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1..._resizd933.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1..._resizd931.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1..._resizd926.jpg |

I think this car looks great Day 2'ed. Good for you, Wayne for keeping it that way. It's definitely a fun car to drive...doing all those power shifts, right? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

Re: Wayne Miller's Beautiful Blown Z28
Bruce, Thank you for taking the time to post my car! To answer the ? on 1/4 mile times, I have not had it to the track with this combo. We est the HP to be somewhere between 650 and 700. It makes alot of power and with the Day 2 tire and C clip's in the 12 bolt, I'm alittle hesitant to bolt on the slicks. I have plans on installing a Moser 60 Dana Rear with 3:55s. I will then step on the 502 and see what the 1/4 times are. I am going to try and get a pic of the Z in the early 80's and scan it and I will post.
Thanks again guys for a great site! Wayne https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ouguysrock.gif |
