Hello just need a place to vent, has anyone here ever bid on some thing on ebay and felt like the seller had a friend working the bid,
Up bidding to get higher price I felt like has happened to me once why I say this I have no proof but, I looked at when the seller signed up for ebay, then I looked at the bidder, that was bidding ageist me, and had the same sign up date as the seller could the seller have two ebay accounts under a different name? Has this happened to anyone else? at the end of the day i know it is an auction but i wish ever one would be fair about it https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Yes you can have more than one user name on ebay. You are not supost to but there are many pepole that have them. If you ckeck contact info some times they use a different phone # and thats it but you can ck. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

I know for a fact the some people have more than one ID. I'm not sure if they signed up with a fake or maybe a friend or family members name. But, I'm sure that some people push auctions up. I'm not crazy about it either.

Im sure it happens all the time. This is why I wait till the last seconds to place my bid, this way it does not become a "pissing" match". If you view the bidding history you can sometime see that two bidders just keep going back and forth driving up the price. I determine what Im willing to pay at the end and place that bid late in the auction. If I win I win... if not Oh well.

eBay allows you to have more than one user id but you have to have a different email account for each id. I know, I have two. I got the second one because I have too many people watching the first id I have.

If you feel there is shill bidding going on, report it to eBay, they'll check it out, of course in their time. If it it so, they'll kick the seller off eBay for a while.

I did not get the second id to play the shill bidding game, I place a reserve on my items or start the auction out at what I want and let it go.

Good idea is to get yourself a good sniping program. You will save more than you pay for the program on your first decently priced bid. It will wait until the very end of the auction to "snipe" in your bid at the last second. Bud of mine uses Auction Sniper but I am sure there are many out there to choose from. He rarely ever loses an auction he has set up to snipe.

The only thing these SNIPING services do is get you in at
the end of the auction. I once tried this myself and I
lost the auction because two other bidders did the same
exact thing ( sniping ). It all comes down to how much
you are willing to bid up. I often wonder if this is why
eBay prices are going through the roof. Just look at the
recent 4296 ZL-1 carb that went for $10,000 on eBay.

The high bidder backed out I understand.

On another note, I have had a couple of shill bid
experiences on eBay over the years. My favorite was a
guy with ( 0 ) feedbacks was trying to sell a bunch of
BBC aluminum ( L/89 ) components. Everytime someone bid
on one of these auctions, they were immediately upped by
another bidder, also with ( 0 ) feedbacks. This was the
same situation for every auction this guy was running,
including the items I was bidding on. So, I complained to
eBay and they pulled all of his auctions.

The seller later contacted me and asked if I was still

I also had a seller ( that I won a few items from ) contact
me and ask me to outbid the high bidder on one of his
current auctions. Seems the seller didn't want to sell to
the high bidder due to personal issues. I didn't want to
get in the middle.....

You can be sure this happens a lot more than most of us
know. Just look at the BB starter heat shield that popped
off for over $1,200 yesterday on eBay. Where this kind of
money is concerned, the ends do justify the means, I'm

You can have a number of ebay accounts but what eBay looks for are bids that come from different User ID's that have the same IP address (Internet Protocol Address) Every Internet connection has a unique IP address. So even if you log out and log back in with a different user Id you're busted if you use the same computer. To really get away with it you need to have a different computer and a different Internet connection for each user ID. Way to much work for me.

It's as simple as using your work computer, or a friends
computer. It's all about the money.
