Re: springfield illinois collection wrecked
Is this the place that sells used cars and he keeps his private car and memorabilia collection on display? He is located on the corner of two main streets in down town Springfield. I stopped by there last year on my way through town. It is the only collection of cars that I heard about.

Re: springfield illinois collection wrecked
Rick,
Would it have been Ron Metzger? RPM Motors/Metzger Flooring Center? He has some nice Camaros but I wasn't aware of any Mopars. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Could also have been Dick Levi of Levi, Ray & Shoup, but I thought his stuff was North of town around the airport. Maybe Tim Wilkerson???? Don't know what he has or where it's kept. Not a good situation in Springfield right now. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif |

Re: springfield illinois collection wrecked
Dennis,
I honestly don't recall. He was on the corner of two main roads right, one at a slight angle to the other and in down town SPringfield. He had a closed off area with several collector cars and a 50's dinner motif. On the other side of the showroom was their used car sales office and sales lot. The salesman only told me that the owner is a private collector and none of the cars in the display area were for sale, only the cars in the lot. He had a wide variety of cars on display as well as memorabilia. I spoke with Annie yesterday and she escaped with nothing more than a power outage and phone service, both of which are now back unlike a vast majority of Springfield. The severe stuff was to her south and east only a few miles away and cannot get into town as they have most major roads blocked. As Dennis said, her worst outcome of the storm is a severe case of vertigo. Since I suffer from the same, I feel for her as it is NOT a good time! Rick |
Re: springfield illinois collection wrecked
Rick N, I just spoke with Dennis Thomas in Springfield. He reports that Don Stowers NEW home and cars are OK as well as Dennis's own property.
The place you spoke of above with 50's Diner motif, belongs to Kim Shirley, and is undamaged also. Dennis Thomas does not yet know whose place was on NBC, and will report back if and when he gets info...... |
Re: springfield illinois collection wrecked
Thanks Chuck. I did not have a number for Don and Judy and had been unable to locate one. Annie was not feeling well enough to dig for it but was also very concerned for their well being.

It's a yellow '67 Firebird. Look for it at the end of the story.

Re: springfield illinois collection wrecked
All is well in Chatham, Illinois the storm missed us by several miles. Unfortunately Judi and I were in a restaurant in Springfield when it hit. We were about two city blocks away from one of the areas that suffered major destruction. Judi's ears were ringing and popping due to the sudden drop in barometric pressure and you could see the windows in the restaurant bowing in and out. Really scary, but all is well.
Don't know Doug Edwards or his cars and haven't talked with anyone that does. Looked his address up and he lives in one of the hardest hit areas. |
