Re-stamp part #??

1 Attachment(s)
I recently picked up a Quadrajet carb for my car that I thought was an un-restored original carb. The part # stamping seems odd because their are two different type 2's stamped into the part number. I was wondering if the numbers were gang stamped or individually stamped at the factory? Anybody know? The carb looks like it has never been rebuilt, never replated and there is no evidence at all of any sanding or grinding of the area where someone would have tried to restamp it?? The depth of the stamp is pretty consistant as well will the exception of the "7" which seems to be correct compared to other carbs I've seen.

What do you guys think? Anybody ever see this before? It's a pretty rare carb and by the condition of it seems to be original.

Thanks,
Mike

Your Carb part# looks authentic and is typical from what I have seen.
Just right for a 1968 Chevelle or Chevy II 327/325HP w/Man. trans.
Whats the assembled date stamped on the lower flange?

The assembly date is 3117. Which is late 67. A little early for my car which has a June 68 build but at least its not after.

I know someone who might be interested in that November 7th, 1967 date if you are selling it?

An uneven casting with high spots would make some numbers appear to be stamped deeper than others.
