427 Block Question

What car would a August 1967 cast 427 IT code block be correct for? What heads should it have come with? What would a standard bore block with no damage be worth?
Thanks, James

Re: 427 Block Question

Without looking it up I belive that is a Corvette designation for L-88 so an August dated block would be for a 68. Whats the casting #'s 351 or 321? It should be a 4 bolt main also. Could you post the full Tonowanda stamp.
Rich.
It should have 842 aluminum heads.
If there is no vin it would be worth quite a bit to some one with a 68 L-88 Vette with the wrong motor. Also that is what Motion put into some of thier cars, so if anyone has a Phase III 68 anything that would be the correct motor fo it.

Re: 427 Block Question

It's a 321 4 bolt block. TO822IT stamped on the pad with a 8 19 7 cast date. I haven't seen the block. I don't know if there are any other numbers on the pad. It is on Ebay. The seller gave me a price that he would end the auction for but I'm not sure if it's worth what he wants.

Re: 427 Block Question

That's for sure a 68 L-88 built motor with an early build worth picking up. How much do they want? and if your not interested may I have a shot at it. Thanks,Rich.
Opps just saw the ebay link thanks anyhow.

Does the pad stamp look ok?

Re: 427 Block Question

Yes with the "T" floating at the end that is how a lot of them were stamped. I can't make out the broach marks I think the block was glass beaded. (or just a poor picture if you are serious ask him for another shot of the pad.) However the rusted outline of the head gasket is still present so I don't think it was decked.

The seller backed out on the price he gave me and ended the auction.

Re: 427 Block Question

Someone else offered him more. If you don't mind, and seeing that he sold it to someone else, what was the price that he had given you?
