69 396 "CE" NEW in Crate, never used -Ebay
Hi had this listed about a year ago and ebay pulled the ad for listing a local price w/o a buy it now. Decided to relist it. Please see Item number: 4598436554 for more details. This is a BRAND NEW "CE" 1969 396 (325hp and 350hp) replacement block from 1970 that has never been used.
Ebay 396 Block Ebay Buy it now is $6,999.00 Thanks for looking Email me with any questions. Rich |

Since I don't see a buy it now or reserve price on the auction, I take it you plan on selling it to the high bidder no matter what the final price?

Well,
That is a double sided question. I "had" a buy it now, but because I mistakenly did not put a reserve (I usually always have a reserve) and it seems like the buy it now disappears after the first bid if there is no reserve. Obviously I am not giving this item away. If someone wants the buy it now (which was $6999.00) then I will cancel the auction as a listing mistake, and set up a new auction at the buy it now which I believe stays within ebays terms and conditions. In my opinion I think you should let run and see what happens. $6999.00 seems a little steep in my opinion.

Just a few months ago, there was a brand new, still in the crate L-78 396/375HP short block that sold for less than $2000 on the 'bay. The last time you ran this didn't you say there was a local offer of around 5K? That's pretty good money.

Re: 69 396 "CE" NEW in Crate, never used -Ebay
Rick, I think it is a little presumptuous that you "want" me to sell it for less. I want a Real CoPo for under 80k, but I would never presume to tell someone that they had to sell it for less than what they wanted. I would make an offer that I thought was fair (nothing wrong with that)and that would be that. If they did not accept, then I would either go up on my offer, or walk away. Seems as if some people are "mad" that I will not sell this block for less than I want for it. If you are interested, then make an offer. If it was a person who gave me advice or helped me here or otherwise, then of course I would take that into consideration. If you have a word of advice, then give it to me. I am not above making mistakes and taking advice. As far as the local offer on the block, perhaps I should have taken it. At that time I wanted him to go up $500 more, and he would not. Again, free market. If you are just being critical (which I get the feeling you are, if not, then I apologize to you) then I would not sell this block to you for any price!
In this and other posts you seem to like to play the game of "catching" people and I find it more than a little annoying. IF you have a valid beef, or if something has been misrepresented, then point it out. This is America (or at least it was, after the federal government and the insurance co's response to Katrina I am not so sure anymore) and how the free market works. Of course, this is just my opinion. If there was a block on ebay, still in the crate, and a L78 to boot for 2k, then someone got a great deal. Good for them. If this block is that overpriced, then it will not sell. Again, the free market at play. I got hate mail about that rusty RS/Z-28 over what I wanted for it, but it sold within hours of being listed. Then the new owner flipped it for almost $10,0000.00 more than I sold it to him for. Again, free market at play. Good for him. Everything you buy has been bought and sold several times over, and most of the time marked up 100% or more. This is the way america works. {Caution - Rant Starts Here......... } To many people in our society want things "given" to them. What happened to grow up, get an education and work had for the things you want. And for the record, I was a mechanics son, whose father had a 7th grade education. I wore hand me down clothes to public school and started working at 13 years old. I worked hard, went to school and I paid for everything I wanted for myself. I joined the Air Force to get an education, served during Desert Storm, then came back and completed my education. I own a business now and still put in long days, but can afford most of what I would like to have. So I have been there and done that when it comes to saying work hard for what you want. {getting off of soap box...........} |
