I think he is looking for the long process that was posted...I think it came from CRG ???

Re: need the thread on adjusting BB solid lifters
What camshaft is it? The "set the intake as the exhaust opens, set the exhaust as intake closes" method will cover the majority of your solid bbc cams...

Re: need the thread on adjusting BB solid lifters
Thanks guys, I think it is the one from CRG (the long one) It is a stock 143 in a stock 70 L78, if anybody can link me to it, would be appreciated. Thanks SULLY

Re: need the thread on adjusting BB solid lifters
I'm telling ya, Sully, if it's the 143 then do the method suggested by Mo and I, it's stupid easy and WORKS, all ya gotta do is watch the rocker move...I've done it the long way, and it sucks...also, won't the long way be effected by where your cam centerline is set?

Re: need the thread on adjusting BB solid lifters
Rob, your method is the one I want to use, just want to read the entire thread as it had a lot of opinions/input. It was just up about a week or two ago (couple of pages, can't remember how it was titled). In the interim, let's see if I have this right as I am breaking in a new motor here. I have adjusted as per manual instructions so far, valves closed on #1 ready to fire, 0 mark on balancer, rockers gapped at factory cold settings.
Should I simply redo #1 with your method and go to each cylinder seperately.? is this done hot or cold.? (I really need that thread )incidentally, the cam is installed factory (straight up). Thanks and if anybody finds that thread for me I will send beer. SULLY |
