Corvette mirrors
Can anyone help me in finding a set of correct mirrors for Motion Corvettes. I am building a 1971 Motion Corvette clone and I have yet to locate a set of correct mirrors for it. I have been told that the mirrors were LeMans sport mirrors. But I have found no evidence supporting this. I am trying to build this car as accurately as possible, and do not want to settle for anything that isn't correct. Any help would be very much appreciated. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif

Re: Corvette mirrors
------I definetly could be wrong but have thought since back in the day that Mustang painted mirrors were on many Motion Vettes. I actually put them on a 69 Motion style Vette with an LS6, flairs, L88 hood, etc. back in 1972. Not saying they didnt use some GM sourced mirrors as well as I have seen them on original Motion Vettes as well.........Bill S

Re: Corvette mirrors
Bill S. is correct! Ford Torino/Mustang are the correct mirrors. Driver side was remote.
If you are going to drive it vwery much, I would caution you that they leave something to be desired, as far as rear view use goes. They are not tall enough to see over the top of the fender. They were the only style mirror like that back in 1969. So that is what Joel used. Pantera |
Re: Corvette mirrors
The stock mirrors barely look over the fender... so you aren't missing much.

Re: Corvette mirrors
Great, thanks for the info. I figured by looking at them you couldn't see over the quarters, but they look cool and I want the car to look " correct ".

Re: Corvette mirrors
Amen to barely look over it...... The only good thing is that you could easily put just about any car behind you in those rearview mirrors.
They were not any competion much and that was one reason that I quit driving them much at all. That and the gas mileage with a 3 barrel sucks big time. Pantera |
