tracking down a car

I am trying to track down an old 67 427 biscayne. I still have the old title so I have the vin. I can't do any searches via carfax, etc., because the car is pre 1981. Does anybody here know of any way?

If you've got a buddy in law enforcement, they can do nationwide current/last registration searches.
