69 Camaro dash top paint

I've looked pretty hard at one time or another and never found the correct paint that the factory applied to anti glare the tops of the dashes and the garnish moldings around the lower rear windows. Its almost like a real fine grain wrinkle or spatter paint. I haven't looked lately is any one making any that is really close or correct? What are you guys using? Thanks, Frank Payne https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...elairSucks.gif

I just had this conversation with a DuPont dealer today...he told me they have no more numbers and they cannot convert dash colors anymore for some reason...he called it a suede type of paint..and Frank...you suck...

Thats the right name for it. I forgot what they called it. Maybe i'll try seeing if someone with an old Dupont book can get a formula. Bob did the guy have an old Dupont number for it? You Sausage.

I have seen the guy at "Coast to Coast camaros" spray this on...he did say it was a special mix to get that suede finish and feel. You may want to call him.

Frank,you're a Payne. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

For these specific 1969 interior 711 & 712 areas:
*Upper Instrument Panel
*Radio Aux Speaker Grille
*Rear Window Defogger Grille
*Back Window Lower Garnish
They suggest using Fisher #W0A848,or Rinshed-Mason Tintometer #168C41,
then adding Alpha-Cryl formula No.849 Suede Concentrate to produce a Zero gloss finish.
I have a jobber here who mixed some of this for me recently.

Rustoleum textured 7220 black in a spray can, might want to give it a try and see what you think.

Thanks a lot for the help guys. Rick, who makes the alpha cryl suede concentrate? Is it R&M? Was there a catalog or part# I'll need if the guy doesn't know what suede concentrate is? Thanks again, there is a lot of tech knowledge in this group! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: 69 Camaro dash top paint

Rick..where do you find interior paint codes ??

Mr70 10-18-2005 03:34 PM

Re: 69 Camaro dash top paint

Those codes are from the 1969 Chevrolet R-M Paint catalog.
Alpha-Cryl #849 is an R-M flattening agent.
All those codes I listed are Lacquer codes, and thus obsolete today.
The Jobber who mixed the similar blue tint I needed recently,
told me he cross referenced to get the shade I needed.
With what,I don't know.
I don't have any left, but I remember a SEM label on the can.
I have seen good results with Low gloss Vinyl paints today.
