No Copo, no clones, not even a wannabe...

This is not a rant, or a complaint or even a little whine. Just a middle age reality check for me. Not being able to afford a Copo Camaro, and watching the prices of even well done clones going out of reach, I set my sights on an X44 car with 307/powerglide, to be able to at least have the "less is more" copo look. Had to drop out of some E Bay bidding because I found myself up against a Chicago area owner of a Copo (and a Yenko) who wants the car for his driver, so miles don't have to be put on the real ones.I'm a hardcore capitalist, so no flames please. Just find it amusing that even the drivers are out of my price range.Maybe I'll have to lower the bar a bit more. Maybe a nice Copo 4 door taxicab? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif

I share your feelings on the lack of affordable cars, especially when it comes to Camaros. We have been looking for a 69 convertible(for Karen) for 3 years, but the $$$ just keeps getting higher. Finally settled on a 69 SS coupe for now. If it was up to me I would buy a 68 and build a Motion style clone of a car like Mark Hassett's. Stinger hood, BB w/alum heads, headers and Cragar mags. That car always looks good and sounds even better. 68 cars are reasonably priced and when you pull in you won't look like every other 69 in the show! 68 is also my favorite year in the Nova, but that's another story...... let me know if I can help in your search, lots of cars in NY. Good luck.

OK, somebody help me on this one. We all know that 69's are
out of control on price, but $12,000 for a 6 banger? This
car looks a little rough if you ask me. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

Now, the really biggie. To the best of my recollection,
this is the first 3-speed manual ( column shift ) 69 Camaro
I've ever seen. Have I been asleep all these years? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif

pulled two 3 speed on column 6 cyl cars out of a barn in '92, for $800. they exist, the 3 speed was usually dumped pretty early for most cars. one was considered too rough @ the time and parted out( probably be a $3k starter car now) the other was built into a low 9 second 11" tire 434 small block show car by a good friend.

Auction ended early offline. Word from the seller last night was that the car was sold to a member here from Chicago for $25,000. A very nice mostly original Hugger orange 69 with 307/powerglide.

Well, I guess that makes my $15K investment a pretty good one for my matching number X77 complete with smog equipment... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
