"71 LT1?????

Guys I looked at what I believe is a 71 LT-1 motor today...here are the codes from the front of the block..block is '71 for sure its a dated A281 3970010 block, with correct valve covers and intake, with a double pumper holley

CEA133844 VO204XCD

lastly I will stop asking for this stuff if anyone can direct me to a book to purchase that covers all the suffix codes of Chevrolet...is there such a animale...

I haver to run and Coach the kids toss ball practice...look later tonight for pics of a Corvair with this motor in it..car was built here in Wa in the early 70's and this motor supposedly came over the counter new from GM...really cool piece!!!

Bud.

I looked there when the guy was here and it says a CEA is a 305 at the site... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif its a 710 block sounds healthy and has all the correct LT-1 stuff on it and has 34 years of grime on it..as the builder used it as his daily wheels in the early '70's then parked it for the last 13 I think he said...

Wouldn't the XCD be the code to look for. No luck decoding that. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

According to Colvin's 65-69 Chevy by the numbers, this block was used from Apr/May69 through 75. All 4 bolt mains, 350/300HP used in 69 Chevelle,Chevy II, Camaro & Corvette.

Is the CEA stamped up on the pad? Looks to be an over the counter CE engine. I don't find the XCD anywhere.

got it..what I need is good book with all the suffix numbers!!

I should have snaped a pic of the block but when he had the fiberglass seat do-hicky out we were over at my other shop trying out seats in it and did not have a camera with me...we had some steel wool and it cleaned up perfect..numbers were clear as a bell..only thing worth noting is when the guy striked the CEA1338 stamp the 44 was left off??? as it is stamped crooked behind the CEA1338 and looks like it was done free hand as the 44 overlap each other slightly...thats all I know..it would be nice to decode this thing as it is some kind of over the counter motor the guy bought new way back when.
