Modern Trends
Watching some of these new car shows and seeing many new trends at car shows and such, how do you guys feel about some of these new show cars?.
eg. Why would you need 6 plasma screens in your car, let alone one. Is'nt the idea just to enjoy the ride. Who wants to go out to your car to watch tv or play video games. Is it really nessasary to have a stereo 10 times the size as your home stereo?. I should invest in a hearing aid company becouse non of these kidss will be able to hear squat by the time they're 40. i could go on but i thought maybe you guys would like to chime in. |

Re: Modern Trends
Younger ladies love the gadgets. Young men love young ladies...the rest is easy to figure out.
Even when I was young...(sounds like my father)...girls did not like the BB A or B body Chryslers that I owned. They were all "gaga" for a car with a birdie on the hood, or who had the coolest 8 track stereo system with the most speakers. |

That's probably the reason why most of us were conceived.https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

There's an old saying in Detroit: "It's easier to live in your ride than it is to drive your crib."

Re: Modern Trends
I traded in a 6 pack Challenger for a 240Z (girlfriend's idea) back in 76'. The girls really loved the 240Z, but I hated it! Way too slow for me. Two months later I traded the 240Z for a 454 Vette. No amount of female attention could ever get me to drive something that I did not like, even in my teens when I still thought about girls 24/7. That's when I figured out that I was addicted to horsepower instead of....... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

awe come on.. you gotta have your "bling bling" these days ... Personally I'll stick with side pipes, traction bars and a T-handled Hurst. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Yes and I am even partial to a nice straight axle setup! As a matter of fact I am going to do one within the year hopefully because I never had one and I think they are cool!Belaire, post a couple of pictures of that Henry J you had,I seen one somewhere and that was a cool looking ride.I do not have a plasma screen in a vehicle but my Wife does have a tv with a vcr player and on long trips I do actually watch it sometimes.Laid back there one day and watched American Grafitti turned out to be a really nice ride home!I very seldom listen to the stero in any of my classics because I like to hear the sound of the car.Although I do carry csome cassette tapes of the Beach Boys,ZZ Top,Led Zepplin,Bachman Turner Overdrive,Kentucky Head Hunters, even a few old doo wop tapes to boot and a few others to listen to when the mood strikes!

Don't get me started on the crap they're doing to cars and trucks nowadays. Performance add ons like turbos and suspension and braking are fine, but these huge wheels with no tire, tv's, dvd's, video games, huge stereos, carbon fiber everything! That stuff is a huge waste of money. And where are these kids getting the money from to dump into their cars? Some of the kids in our local Camaro/Firebird club are paying $4000-6000 a year for insurance on a late model Camaro/Firebird! Who can afford that and the car payment? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif But my 88 4Runner does have a little bling itself with the big 3" chrome exhaust tip! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Don't blame me, it came with the cat-back exhaust. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

When you see some 20yr old kid dropping 100k into his civic, you gotta wonder what this kid does for a living. Like to see that car at BJ and hear what their "experts" have to say about it.
