Ace Wilson Jr.
After all the talk and debate over all-things-Royal, I have yet to ever see an actual photo of Royal Pontiac owner Ace Wilson. Jr.
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif Has anybody got one they can share? Mac https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: Ace Wilson Jr.
I don't readily remember seeing one either, did you check with Eric?

Re: Ace Wilson Jr.
Hot Rod did a circa-1963 article on the Royal Pontiac "swiss-cheese" SD drag car and there's a photo of Ace Wilson sitting in the car. That's not much to go on but if you really want a photo try searching 1963 Hot Rod magazines. No, I don't have a copy of that particular magazine, I saw it years ago.

[/ QUOTE ] I found a photocpoy of that one, thanks, Bill! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif But there's a photo of Jim Wangers standing in front of the swiss cheese car with another guy. They are both in suits and looking sharp (loved that thin-tie look from the early 60s) https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif Both of them are standing in shoe-deep snow, but there's no shot of anyone "in" a car. There are 2 more shots of Jim and one of Frank Rediker. BTW: The article is called "Pontiacs on a Diet" and it was written by Roger Huntington. (So the other guy in the photo was not the writer, because Huntington was wheelchair-bound.) Is this Ace Jr. ??? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Mac EDIT: I'll try to scan this copy tomorrow, but no promises of quality are implied! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif |
Re: Ace Wilson Jr.
Cool, I'm glad you were able to locate a copy. Yeah, it's been 20+ years since I've seen that article so I couldn't remember the details exactly. The other guy in the photo standing next to Wangers might be Ace Wilson. I thought there was a photo of him with the article but perhaps not. Post it and let's have a look.
I bought a big stack of early '60s Hot Rods for a couple dollars at a local used book shop in about 1981 and that's when I saw that article. I was 18 then and I read them over and over for months but they got lost after several household moves. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif |
Re: Ace Wilson Jr.
I'll ask Milt Schornack to look at that article and ID the mystery guy!
;-) Mac PS: It was HOT ROD, May 1963. |
Re: Ace Wilson Jr.
Yeah, he'll probably know who the other guy was (is). I love solving historical mysteries and filling in gaps of knowledge, especially years after the fact.
