Tony Wonch's 70 Z......super cool color

This 70 was bought new from Courtesy Chev Center in San Diego. The original owner bought it with his discharge pay from the Navy. He had the car until 1977, when he moved to Wisconsin. He sold it to Dave, the Snap On Tool man. Dave kept the car until 97. He sold it to Paul in Somonauk Il. Paul had it until 02, when he sold it to Dennis in Maple Park Il. I bought it from Dennis. I have talked to all the owners except the original one.
When I got it, there was a build sheet and the POP. I found another one in the front passenger seat and another one on top of the gas tank.
The complete driveline is the original. The carb, manifold, distributor, exhaust manifolds, PS pulley and air cleaner were all changed by the second owner. I have been gathering stock parts to put it back original someday.
In the interior, the steering wheel and radio have been changed. I have the correct ones now. Also added were a couple of gauges.
It has the California emission system. I have most of the parts for that, but can't find the carb heat shield anywhere. I have an ad in Hemmings looking for one, but nothing yet.
Car was painted in 78 at a cost of around 600. I have a stack of receipts for misc work done through the years. Also have the original Registration card from the first owner.Have a piece of paper called Mechanical Breakdown Insurance from Service Certificate Corporation of Southern California that is dated 8/20/73.
The car runs good. I use this one as my Hot Rod. It is a blast to drive. Has the 4.10 gears. M21. Hooker headers with Flowmaster system. MSD box.

I agree. The 1st gen cars I by far the most popular but if you graded the cars on comfort and handling the 2 gen would win hands down. They really are a better engineered car.

Mosport...The headers and system seem to work good. Car has a nice sound to it. Headers fit good too.

Chris...I feel the same way. I looked at some of the pics that had been posted on this site of the 2nd generation cars. That helped me decide to find one.

From my standpoint 1970 RS Z's are dynamite. The color on this one makes it even better. Love it Tony https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif
