My SCR7 two cents
I gotta thank the Clarys's and everybody that came for making it such a fun event. I know we had to twist Belairs arm to get him on a plane to come and now I don't think he will miss another. We might have to make him wait outside during the Banquet though. Thanks to Rita and her husband for letting me complete my mission of returning with real sized pics of Rita. Those of you that frequent the site but don't have a car to bring or it is just too hard to get your car there, come anyway. There were many that showed up without a car and still had a blast. Please remind us next year about name tags and info cards for our cars. There were cars and people that I had no clue about so we gotta fix that. I love the location in relation to the drag strip and hotels but the rooms for the cars are gonna have to get bigger and the Holiday Inn better do a remodel soon.
My Never lost navigation in the rental car did great until I was talking to Pacemes wife when I should have been listening to the never lost lady and turned on the wrong freeway. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif. My understanding on the low mile Hemi and low mile Yenko that did not make it was because a family member was in a accident over in Germany and he went over there. I thought the driver was still supposed to bring the cars though. I hope the family member is OK and I really hope the low mile cars really do exist. The RS ZL1 and 71 Hemi Cuda did not make it due to transport coordination problems but the upside is Joe Cheeks has the orig block for the RS ZL1 and he and Dave shook hands on a deal so the block will be back with the car. Bill Okerland drove to Virginia and picked up the orig block to ZL1 # 38 that John Ohler owns so in one weekend there are two more ZL1's with their orig blocks. I wasn't gonna drag race anything but being at that drag strip with so few cars running compared to a normal drag race day I couldn't help myself. I begged Clarys trailer into going back to the hotel for my Super Snake and managed to make three passes in the 14's. I later decided I would just drive the Shelby back to the hotel so Dave C was gonna follow me in my rental car and Colin was gonna ride with me. At the last minute Colin says to go down the strip again so I head down the staging lanes. Well Dave in my rental car, Rich P in his rental and Paceme in his rental follow me down the staging lanes also. I go down the track and they tell the starter they are just following me so he stages them and next thing you know there are rental car races. Rich P schooled Dave running a 16.60 in his Sebring to Daves 18.45 in my Ford Taurus. I have the timeslip and the tower even printed Sebring and Taurus on the timeslip. That is how laid back the drag racing is. Those of you that have not raced yet but are kinda thinking it would be fun but are kinda afraid of embarrasing yourself by running a crappy time, don't worry about it. Most of us run crappy times. I think Shor is hooked on drag racing as evidenced by making 25 plus passes in his Yenko Chevelle. This is the perfect venue to learn as the track is all ours and is not crowded so try taking the plunge next year. If you need advise, there are tons of us know it alls to help out. I will post a few pics . Thanks again for the great time. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

Congrats Frank. Here is a starting line pic. I'm sorry I didn't get the pick of Frank riding Marlin like Ned Beatty in Deliverance. https://www.yenko.net/attachments/97108-P1010042.JPG

This is a reflection of me taking a picture of the black paint on the GTO. That is one of the nicest black paint jobs I have seen. I would have it screwed up in about two days.
