69 Z/28 Numbers

I have been doing a little fishing of late, but I guess I am going to step up to the plate and say this is my car. I would like your opinions on the correctness of a 69 camaro. Both if the numbers are right and the dates are in line. This is my car that I have owned for several years and I have no documentation for it. I bought it as it is and have always thought it to be correct but with as much hoopla as is now being generated about these cars I would like some opinions from fellow owners. I am in no way and expert on these cars and when I purchased it all this fakery wasn't something I would have thought possible. I am not interested in selling it, as I do not think it will ever be for sale, I would just like a little piece of mind in what I have. A friend of mine always says "It is what it is." and I would like your opinions on what it is. It is a 69 fathom green RSZ, vin 9N618---. Vin is also visible and matches on the cowl under the cowl cover. Data tag shows code X33 and 03D build date. Vin is also on the engine block near the oil filter.

The numbers are:

Block 3956618 B149 VO304DZ

Heads 3927186 A109 A139

Water Pump 3927170T K18

Distributor 1111480 9B22

Carb 3923289DZ 4053 8B5

Intake 3932472

Alternator 1100837 8M19

Starter 1108367 9B21

Bell Housing 3858403

Your opinions and insights would be most helpful.

Thanks

Numbers look in order to me. Do you believe these to be all original components? How bout posting a pic?

You might want to pick up the Definitive Guide to 1969 Z/28s by Jerry MacNeish. Great reference!

could the carb be 9b5 instead of 8b5.. 8b5 seems a year early for a march engine assembly date in my opinion..

It is my understanding that a 8B5 dated Holley is fifth week of December, 68. Is this incorrect?

Hey Darren,

Thanks for the info you have shared. I would be glad to post a photo if someone could teach me how. I have a digital camera but I do not know how to get a photo from my computer to a website such as this. As to the car I think the components are original but again, I really do not know. These things were not such an issue when I bought the car, at least not to me anyway. It has had an amateur detail job under the hood, and looks pretty good under there. It has been wrecked at some point in it's life on the right front - probably in a ditch or something. The radiator has been replaced and the fan blade and pulley were incorrect. From watching this website and others I concluded I needed a 772 fan and 7" pulley. I bought a fan and a repop pulley for it. Other than this it seems correct. Right trannie, booster, master cylinder, proportioning valve on the frame rail, 4 leaf springs, etc. It also has headers and I do not have the manifolds or smog system for it. This is the reason for this post. I wanted to know if you folks think the components are correct or if I need to try and find some other parts with different dates, part numbers, or whatever so I could get the car correct if need be. With prices getting to be what they are for parts and the fact a lot of the stuff is getting hard to find I thought I may need to act now before the parts get much higher. Again, I do not want to sell the car, I just want it to be correct. I am counting on some of you folks to help me out here. You guys know lead times, probability, etc. I have no clue, just the bits and pieces I have picked up from a few of these sites. This car spends its time in my basement. It probably doesn't see 500 miles in a year.

bbg..take the digital pics at a low setting like 640x480 and save them on your computer. When you are posting on this thread you can scrool down and click the "I want to preview my post and/or attach a file". Then you can just browse through your computers files and post the pics. Try it and you will figure it out.

Jerry MacNeish has complete restored smog systems for $1550 ( Smog ). I have seen exhaust manifolds go for around $1000 or more. Hmmm. But look at what I just found. ebay ended auction

Pretty disgusting to think of the value of the parts that my friends and I routinely threw in the garbage 35 years ago https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

That's why they are so valuable.
