what intake/carb combo?
I have a stock chevy 350 and want to upgrade the intake and carb, not sure what direction to go! I want build up the motor later on down the line but for now i just want to do this swap, what are some good combos?
Thanks |
Re: what intake/carb combo?
A small roots type blower and a 750 Holley (or two). You'll have so much torque there will be no need to spend money on a gear change! I wouldn't even build the motor, keep the boost around 6 psi and it will be fine.

Re: what intake/carb combo?
try an airgap manifold and a 650 or 750 Holley

Re: what intake/carb combo?
To embelish a bit on the previous post, I've also had good luck w/ the Performer RPM manifolds w/ a 3310 (750 vac. secondaries) on the street on otherwise stock 350's. They will serve you well with a stock combo but really come into their own w/ further mods. I highly recommend headers and a good exhaust as the 1st step though.

Re: what intake/carb combo?
Performance intakes are intended to deliver air efficiently as possible, but will never be as efficient as a blower. Even nitrous oxide is intended to cram more air and fuel in the combustion chamber (in limited doses).
It has been my personal experience that a blower on a stock engine will make better (flatter torque curve) than the equivelent money spent on a modified engine with limited RPM range. Anyone else have experience with a blower? Some people have some sort of religion about not using forced induction, don't know why. Weiand 144 blower goes for $2099.99 |
