SW tach wiring
I'm curious as to how the SW "tachometer wiring kit" was configured-these are the dotted lines on the SW schematic. Were the wires loose or was it the same 4 conductor phone cable?
How did Yenko... -terminate the black ground wire? -connect the red wire? Was it spliced into the resistor wire or inside the car at the ignition switch? -connect the white (panel lights) wire? Was it terminated at the fuse box? Thanks guys |
Re: SW tach wiring
I would think that Yenko mechanics would follow the original SW instructions but some may have been installed different then others. I have an original SW tach wire kit with metal clips that fit into the fuse box. The clips look like fuse holders with a tab to connect a wire clip. They install under the original fuse. These would make for a quick installation for some of the wires but I am not sure if Yenko used them because I am not sure if these came with the Tach or if it was an extra cost kit. Maybe someone with an original unrestored car can answer this?

Re: SW tach wiring
William,
The SW "tachometer wiring kit" consists of four seperate wires. The RED,WHITE & BLACK are each 24 1/2" in length. While the YELLOW wire is 73" in length. These measurements are from an NOS 970 SW tach and sending unit. Kent |
Re: SW tach wiring
Thanks for the info. Sounds like there was room for interpretation on the part of the installer.
