The Supercar Registry - NO COPO "They really tried"

Someone in 1966 knew who to ask for a special Chevelle. They ordered a 1967 427 425 HP Chevelle from GM. The car was special ordered and shipped to the dealer, but it never arrived because it was damaged in transit. A second order was placed and when shipped this car was also damaged in transit. A third order was placed and again the special Chevelle was destroyed. Not one to quit; the customer got a fourth car built and it also was destroyed in transit. If you thought the fifth time for this special 427 to be built, would lead to the customer taking delivery; you would be wrong. Hard as it is to believe; this 427 suffered the same fate as all the rest. After this all parties agreed that this was a car "that was not meant to be". A sixth car was not attempted! Hard to believe, but true.
