I assume this is the car being auctioned on ebay? Car has ran on ebay a couple of times and no takers. The biggest engine the RS/SS had was the 350. Never seen any with a 396 or better.

You're saying they never made RS/SS 396 camaros in 69?? I think many will disagree with that statement! RS was just an appearance package that could be added to ANY camaro, including base coupe, SS 350, SS 396, Z/28, Pace Car, Even some COPO and ZL1 cars could (and were) ordered with RS trim. I don't know if the car in question is legit or not, but you most certainly could get an RS/SS with a big block.

RS/SS cars got either the 350 or 396 from the factory. As Supercar_kid points out some RS models got the COPO engines

Re: Was this a BB car?

Just a slight clarification.

SS's got either a 350/300(69), 350/295 (67/68), or a 396.

Any car including COPO's could be ordered as an RS.

RS is an appearance option, SS is a performance option. SS emblems supercede RS emblems when the two were ordered together.
