Installing splash shields

I was wondering if anyone had any tips on installing the splash shields in my car? I have the staples and shields from Rick's. But, don't know of a good way to get them installed. Then also is there a correct way to install them (back of staples to inside or outside). Anyones help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. Jesse

Re: Installing splash shields

I used a tiny drill bit to enlarge the old staple holes, so that the new staples would go through easily. Then the rest was pretty easy, just use pliers to work the staples through the rubber sheets and bend the staple ends over.

I'm putting a set in this weekend for a friend....Check the assy manual for a detailed layout and the # of staples used for each piece...A slightly larger hole (approx .005) and the staple will just push through.

The staples get pushed through from the engine bay into the wheelwell. They go through the metal first, then through the splash shields, and bent over.

I just did mine last year and I found the best way to get the staples tight was to clamp needle nose vise grips on one side of the staple (pulling the staple tight and clamping it off)then peening over the other side. Works great and gives that tight factory staple look.
