Sorry LV i stated wrong to you its a 66 not a 67 |
Re: E-bay 66 SS 427 Chevelle
Ummmm...there was no 427 66 Chevelle. How can he state he has a matching numbers car?
|
Re: E-bay 66 SS 427 Chevelle
If you read carefully, he is not saying that this is a matching numbers car anywhere. He just says try to find a matching numbers car. It seems like he is just trying to imply that it is numbers matching without really saying so.

Re: E-bay 66 SS 427 Chevelle
I don't see where he is implying anything except thet it is an SS. He simply is saying that the car and motor are 1966. To me the ad is very clear. Jim

Re: E-bay 66 SS 427 Chevelle
I asked him what numbers he meant, and it turns out that the block casting is 3869942. It just means that the car was built with a 66 -67 427 engine block. He did not mention any stampings, so we don't know the original application of the block.

Re: E-bay 66 SS 427 Chevelle
If he is not implying it is a real car then why would he refer you to NADA and check off the 427 engine option ?
|
Re: E-bay 66 SS 427 Chevelle
The description states:
..... it is a VERY RARE COMBO that has a NADA VALUE OF $44,610.00 ... .... I know it is very hard to understand how a 66 chevelle can sell for this amount of money but try to find a 66 matching # 427 chevelle. You are saying that is not deceptive and it is very clear??? Come on. 'Very Rare Combo' is refering to the 427 in the car. It is very tricky the way he has worded all of his statements. I would not deal with this person myself. He is deliberately trying to deceive. |
Re: E-bay 66 SS 427 Chevelle
Maybe he think NADA has has a generic description for all Chevelles with 427's.(No matter when installed!) Jim

Re: E-bay 66 SS 427 Chevelle
One of the interesting things at Barrett Jackson was reading the descriptions of cars and the imaginative ways sellers avoided stating the real facts, i.e. "correct engine", "original California black plate car", "rare combination" etc. Jim

Re: E-bay 66 SS 427 Chevelle
I feel his add is somewhat deceptive also,He does not state that it is a matching number car, just that it has a 66 427 date code engine. His wording in the add to me was thought out very carefully! For someone that knows very little about cars could be decieved easily,I think you have to read the add real close to understand it correctly,on the other hand I don't think he could slip it by someone who knows about vintage cars, such as most of the people on the Super Car Site.I think most of us are aware that GM did not put a 427 in the Chevelle in 1966,or at least we know of none (AT THIS TIME).Now if the guy has some type of documentation to prove otherwise then we could all learn something here.I would bet he has no documentation!I would also bet it was not a dealer swapped engine also.Good documentation would be the only way to know for sure.Just my thoughts on this subject
