Power Beam Headlights
 

I just looked at a one owner original 70 Monte Carlo SS454. When I looked at the headlights to see if the T-3's were still there, I noticed both were Power Beams. A source I got information from one time said the T-3's went through mid 70 and then mid 70 the power beams started. The problem here? The Monte's build date was October 1969. Anybody know if these headlights would be correct? Anybody know when the power beams started? I know I've seen a Nova in a junk yard before with a power beam in it but seems to me it was a 71 Nova.

As far as I know, the car should have T-3's on it but someone else may know for sure.

<font color="red">SS427 </font color>, I thought the power beams were being used starting in 69 on most GM cars with the two headlight systems. The Camaros used both T-3 and Power Beams in 69 but not sure when and which plant used what. I want to think that I have seen some original Novas with the Power Beams also as early as 69. Marlin what about the Deuces? It is possible those headlights are the originals in the MC....................RatPack............

Well, I believe that Monte came from the Van Nuys plant in California since there was a build sheet from that plant in the car!

All original Deuces that we have found have T3 headlights, and all of the Deuces were built in 3 weeks; 05D, 06A &amp; 06B. I had a nice collection of Power Beam's built up when we figured out they came with T3's - bummer [img]/ubbthreads/images/icons/tongue.gif[/img]

The 1970 Monte Carlo debut the new Power Beam headlight.It is mentioned in the Communciaction kit as being such.It seems to be the headlight of choice as it was a single and much bigger headlight,so they went with a more powerful beam for this somewhat higher end "Elegant" car.There are a few TSB's and Service Bulletins referring to this too.In the years to follow,they all went to the Power Beam and single design headlamp.
