why would anyone want to Chrome their front end. i would think it would not be able to be driven on the street with all that chrome.

My first thought was, why did he only do the external front-clip... why not the inner fenders, radiator core support, etc.

That would be a safety hazard to drive on the street.

Not enough money left to finish the car? Shouldn't have wasted so much on the chrome plating.

We had a '68 Camaro at our August show, license plate said "CHROMED" and the following items were chrome-plated:
gas tank
cowl filler panel
inner fenders
brake booster
brake master cylinder
core support
radiator (!)

plus, the glove box door and portions of the dashboard were brass-plated...
