1969 Chevelle: tire options
I was flipping through one of my Chevelle books this afternoon, and something happened to catch my eye. On the page listing the RPO's, it has "PY7 - G60-14, 4-ply rating, B/B red stripe". So, was a G60 available on a '69 Chevelle? If not, what was actually the widest tire available?

Re: 1969 Chevelle: tire options
ROB, My '69 Chevelle L-89 was ordered with the Optional Tires (PK4) G-70-14 red stripe tires. Chevelle's didn't have 60 series tires until 1971. Mark

Mark:
That's I thought also, but this book had a bunch of optional tires listed, which included the G70-14s, but the G60s caught my eye! Boy, wouldn't it be nice... |
Re: 1969 Chevelle: tire options
There were an incredible number of tire options available on 69 Velles. Obiously not all were available on every model. If you really are interested in seeing them all, feel free to go to my website and from the main page find the link for "Chevelle Resource Center" and then the "RPO" link. Hope you find it useful.

Re: 1969 Chevelle: tire options
Well, I have conflicting info so far on tire availability, although I don't know where the info shown came from. Don, may I ask where you obtained the RPO's?
Also, nothing I have shows tire availability for the obscure COPO 9737 15x7 wheel... |

Re: 1969 Chevelle: tire options
Rob, as noted on the top of my "RPO" numbers page, the source is Chevelle World magazine - March/April 2001 issue. That issue also gives how many vehicles were ordered with each individual option. It was compiled by Chuck Hanson and I certainly can't speak for his source or the accuracy of the information.
In relation to your COPO reference, the article does not have any numbers for COPO production nor any reference to COPO-specific options. The Chevelle Resource Center on my website also does not give reference to any specific COPO information, it is strictly regular production Chevelle data. It appears I may have to hang around here a little more to compile such information to add to my resource page EDIT - Roger, thanks for the feedback on Daytona Yellow, I shall make the change ( it was off course a typing error ) |
