Finder's Fees
What would a reasonable finder's fee be for a rare car like a '67 Z-28 with original paint, drive train etc. and less than 10,000 miles? It's been 20 years since I've paid a finders fee and I have no idea what is fair these days.
Thanks |
Re: Finder's Fees
What was the price of the car ??

Re: Finder's Fees
Less than market value - that's all I can say for now

Re: Finder's Fees
It really depends on alot but I would say most of it would be related to the market value. I would say 50% of the amount less than market that you pay would be reasonable.

5% IMHO

Re: Finder's Fees
Thanks guys,
I am the one who located the car. I really prefer Rally Sport Z's over standard grille cars, so I'm not sure if I want to keep it. Being in Canada and having to pay exchange, duty (7%) and about $1,000 US in frieght, makes buying the car and flipping it just not worth the hassle for the extra couple of thousand that would be left in it. However there has been a fellow hounding me to find him a nice example of a '67 Z-28 for over a year now and he has offered me a finder's fee for the right car. I didn't ask him how much because I really wasn't interested in getting involved in the hobby at that level. If it wasn't so nice I'd just tell him where it was if I wasn't interested, but where do you find original paint '67 Z's these days? I'll probably kick myself a year from now if I don't buy it myself. Decisions, decisions... Thanks again |
Re: Finder's Fees
If you can swing it, I would grab the car and see what kind of reaction you get from people at car shows next season. That may help you determine it's a keeper or not. I like the 67-68 RS/Z28 myself, but you don't have a lot of options with the 67's. It would also depend on what size shoe you wear, you don't want to hurt yourself when it comes time to do the kicking!

Hi Roger,
Nope, it's a different one! Mark |
Re: Finder's Fees
Thanks Jeff,
My butt still hurts from the kicking I gave myself over Mark G's '67 Bill Thomas car. I could have bought that car before it was well-known for $25K from the police officer who restored it...but I thought that might be a little too much money 4 years ago...I'm sure I'm not the only one here that has said, "if only I...." |
